Vote for Shannon on November 4th to make sure all kids have access to an excellent and safe educational and social experience in Stafford County!

Dedicated to working diligently and communicating openly with our Hartwood community.
On The Issues
Whether on the bus, at an event, or in the classroom, our students and educators should fully understand Stafford County Public Schools’ behavioral expectations and consequences. Maintaining, communicating, and enforcing county-wide, consistent protocols that include students, their adults, educators, transportation, counselors, resource officers, staff and administration will allow for more focus on learning and increased employee retention.
All students deserve access to an excellent educational and social experience in Stafford County. Shannon believes it is important for Stafford to preserve a culture of hard work and earned successes, while students are provided rewarding opportunities throughout their school career. As a community and school system, it is our responsibility to maintain proper staffing, materials and funding to address student and classroom needs regardless of changes at the federal or state level, to include our special education families.
Responsibly budgeting for current and future Stafford needs will keep classroom capacity at manageable levels, retain highly qualified educators, maintain infrastructure and offer students a balance of hands-on experiences, technology, academic knowledge and vocational skills. To improve efficiency, appropriately plan for the long-term and help insulate Stafford from state and federal fluctuations, Shannon will strongly pursue a revenue sharing agreement between the School Board and Board of Supervisors.
Once elected to the School Board, Shannon will work to set a 2-term limit for representatives. This would allow for productive elected officials to consistently represent their constituents while also being able to see implementation of policies or procedures they worked to establish. In addition, term limits would help avoid having representatives who lose touch with their constituents and become complacent. Continuing to run for re-election isn’t always an act of service.
Thinking beyond the news cycle by having real conversations to build a solid foundation for our educators and kids is critical. Broken trust and backroom narratives, over the last decade, has created a lack of coordination within our county’s government resulting in insufficient resources being allocated to Stafford County Public Schools by the Board of Supervisors. These same narratives have also caused mistrust among parents, students and educators. In the last couple years there have been efforts to begin improving these relationships. That progress needs to keep moving forward with consistent honesty and hard work. Shannon will diligently work to improve the partnerships between the School Board and parents/guardians, as well as the Board of Supervisors. In conjunction with school administration, she will regularly invite Supervisors to school events and provide visual updates of celebrations and needs. Shannon will also host open semi-annually town halls in Hartwood for the community to talk through concerns and solutions with her directly. Embracing hard conversations is where we will find lasting solutions.
